Cardano's ADA Becomes Accepted Payment Method at 137 Swiss Supermarkets

Cardano's ADA cryptocurrency has become an accepted form of payment in 137 Swiss supermarkets, marking a significant milestone for blockchain technology in everyday commerce.

The new system, introduced by the Cardano Foundation in collaboration with DFX.swiss and Brick Towers, uses the Open Crypto Pay system to facilitate instant payments. This eliminates the need for intermediaries and reduces transaction fees by nearly two-thirds, benefiting retailers and making it easier for customers to use crypto in their daily lives.

The platform also instantly converts cryptocurrency into local currency, reducing volatility risks during transactions. This development is expected to increase the adoption of crypto in the retail industry, bringing blockchain technology closer to mainstream consumers.
