Musician loses substantial Bitcoin fortune to fake Ledger app

A well-known American musician has become the latest victim of a sophisticated phishing scam that targeted Ledger users.

G. Love, whose real name is Garrett Dutton, claims he lost $420,000 worth of Bitcoin after downloading a fake app from Apple's App Store, which mimicked the popular self-custody wallet Ledger Live.

The malicious software bypassed security checks and allowed the scammers to access Dutton's seed phrase, ultimately transferring his entire 5.9 Bitcoin stash to deposit addresses linked to KuCoin across nine transactions.

This incident underscores a persistent problem in the crypto industry, where bad actors continue to pose significant risks to users.
