Bitcoin's Struggling Performance Outlined by Analysts
Bitcoin has experienced a significant decline in value over the past month, with its price dropping over 16%. During this time, the S&P 500 reached new highs, up around 5%.
Analysts attribute this to the loss of momentum in crypto investments. Capital is instead flowing into artificial intelligence stocks and anticipated IPOs.
The total crypto market cap has fallen to $2.38 trillion, a decrease of 46% from its October peak.
K33 Research head Vetle Lunde stated that 'much of the market views the opportunity cost of holding bitcoin as too high while anything AI-related soars.'
CME bitcoin futures open interest has dropped to its lowest level since October 2023, indicating institutional traders are pulling back. Funding rates in perpetual futures have moved higher, suggesting leveraged long positions are building into a weakening market.
