Hana Financial Invests in South Korea's Top Crypto Exchange Operator

Hana Financial Group, one of South Korea's major banking groups, has made a significant move in the cryptocurrency market by acquiring a 6.55% stake in Dunamu, the operator of Upbit, the country's top cryptocurrency exchange.

The deal, worth $669 million, marks the largest-ever investment by a bank into a virtual asset operator and is seen as a strategic move to tap into the growing demand for digital financial services.

The alliance between Hana Financial Group and Dunamu is expected to bring about new business opportunities, including the development of stablecoin projects and real-name accounts for virtual asset transactions.
