Hawaii Moves Out of Recession with Modest Growth Predicted
Hawaii's economy has been slow to recover from the recent recession, but new data suggests that the island state is finally moving in the right direction.
The University of Hawaii Economic Research Organization (UHERO) predicts a gradual return to economic growth, with modest increases in GDP and job creation expected over the next few quarters.
Meanwhile, several law enforcement agencies are facing challenges of their own. The Kauai Police Department has issued a warning about a cryptocurrency phone scam targeting residents, while the University of Hawaii Cancer Center is investigating a cyberattack that may have exposed sensitive patient information.
Elsewhere in the state, a military officer from Kailua has been found guilty of attempting to entice a minor for sex, and the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) Hawaii has taken out public notices in the Honolulu Star Advertiser to serve court summons to current and former police officers in a lawsuit over wrongful DUI arrests.
