Mastercard Introduces Secure Cryptocurrency Transaction Service
Mastercard has launched a new service aimed at improving the security and efficiency of peer-to-peer cryptocurrency transactions across several European and Latin American countries.
The 'Crypto Credential' service enables users to create a Mastercard username, making it easier to send and receive Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies through partner exchanges such as Bit2Me, Lirium, and Mercado Bitcoin.
Unlike traditional wallet addresses, which are complex strings of characters prone to mistakes that can result in fund loss, the Crypto Credential service notifies users if a recipient's wallet does not support a specific asset or blockchain.
This feature helps prevent transactions from proceeding when there is an issue with the recipient's wallet, thereby safeguarding users from potential losses.
