Texas Brothers Plead Guilty to Kidnapping Cryptocurrency Owner

Two brothers from Texas, Isiah Angelo Garcia and Raymond Christian Garcia, have pleaded guilty to kidnapping a Minnesota family at gunpoint in order to steal $8 million in cryptocurrency. The incident occurred on September 19, 2025, when the brothers traveled to Minnesota from Texas and held the victim and his family hostage for nine hours.

The victim's wife and son were forced to stay in their home while the victim was taken to a family cabin three hours away. He was eventually coerced into transferring $8 million in cryptocurrency to the Garcia brothers' online accounts. The ordeal ended when the victim's son made an emergency call, which led authorities to the Garcia brothers.

The investigation found that the Garcia brothers used firearms to threaten their victims and connected them to the crime through surveillance footage and other evidence. As part of their guilty plea, both defendants agreed to pay more than $8 million in restitution. They are facing a maximum of 20 years in federal prison for Interference with Commerce by Robbery.
