Trump Reveals $1 Billion Crypto Windfall, Raises Concerns About Corruption
CNN host Erin Burnett interrupted her program on Tuesday to discuss a bombshell revelation from Donald Trump's 2025 financial disclosure. The report shows that the US president generated more than $1 billion in revenue over the past year through his cryptocurrency ventures.
The disclosure, which spanned 927 pages, revealed that Trump earned $635 million in royalties from a company producing the $TRUMP crypto token he introduced just three days before assuming office for his second presidential term. He also reported over $500m in earnings from World Liberty Financial, a cryptocurrency company founded by his sons and Steve Witkoff's offspring.
This figure significantly exceeds Trump's earnings in prior years, including 2024, when he reported over $600 million in revenue. Erin Burnett displayed a graphic labeled 'Trump Crypto: Family Gains vs Investor Losses', showing that Trump profited from the venture while investors reportedly lost up to $2 billion.
Former White House attorney Ty Cobb described the cryptocurrency sector as 'slimy' and stated, 'the average American should be staggered' by this result. He also characterized the situation as 'the greatest onslaught of corruption in the history of mankind - this is somebody who everyday is devoted to the accumulation of wealth and power.'
