Crypto Firms Flood 2026 Election Cycle with $189M in Donations

Crypto companies have been ramping up their spending in the 2026 US election cycle, with a total of $189 million contributed so far. This number is expected to surpass the $170 million spent on pro-crypto candidates in the 2024 election.

According to a report by Public Citizen, about 37% of all corporate contributions in the 2026 election cycle can be traced back to crypto companies. The majority of this spending comes from super PACs, with Fairshake leading the pack at over $82 million.

The MAGA Inc. Super PAC, largely backed by Crypto.com, has spent more than $56 million. Fairshake and its affiliates are backed by Coinbase and Ripple, and have a reported war chest of $193 million as of January.

Public Citizen warns that these super PACs prioritize the interests of their business backers over any major political party or candidate. They are set up to engage in both Democratic and Republican primaries, and can support or attack candidates from either party in the general election.
