FTX Prepares $900M Creditor Payout as Bankruptcy Recovery Continues
FTX is set to distribute nearly $900 million to its creditors in the fifth repayment round of its bankruptcy recovery process. The payout, scheduled for July 31, marks another major milestone in the exchange's efforts to repay its users.
The distribution will bring the total amount paid out by FTX to over $10 billion since the start of the repayment process in 2025. Eligible creditors can expect funds within a few business days after the payment is made.
For claimants with balances under $50,000, the payout will be 120% of their owed amount. Other creditor classes have already seen returns exceeding 100% of their initial bankruptcy-era losses.
However, there's a catch: the payments are based on the price of cryptocurrencies in November 2022, meaning creditors won't receive any funds that Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies have made since then.
