Manhattan Judge Dismisses Terrorism Lawsuit Against Binance
A Manhattan federal judge has dismissed a civil lawsuit against cryptocurrency exchange Binance, its US arm, and founder Changpeng Zhao. The plaintiffs, who comprise victims and relatives of victims, claimed that the exchange facilitated transactions for terrorist groups between 2017 and 2024.
However, Judge Jeannette Vargas ruled that the plaintiffs failed to provide credible evidence linking Binance or CZ to the alleged activities. She noted that any connection between the defendants and foreign terrorist organizations was arm's-length and not a deliberate partnership.
Binance's founder, CZ, welcomed the decision, stating that 'false news is temporary' and that truth will prevail with time. He emphasized that exchanges have no financial motive to serve terrorists, as they do not generate revenue from such transactions.
