DAICS Review: Top 50 Cryptocurrencies and Asset-Backed Tokens Updated

The IX Digital Asset Industry Classification System (DAICS) has released its first-half review of 2026, providing a transparent and standardized classification scheme for digital assets. As of May 31, 2026, the top 50 coins by average market capitalization covered 97.45% of DAICS' market capitalization.

The system classifies digital assets into two main categories: Cryptocurrencies and Asset-Backed Tokens (ABTs). For Cryptocurrencies, there are three tiers: Industry, Sector, and Sub-sector. For ABTs, there are also three tiers: Asset Type, Branch, and Sub-branch.

Seven coins were added to the DAICS top 50, including Canton (CC), Tether Gold (XAUT), Pax Gold (PAXG), Global Dollar (USDG), Aster (ASTER), Ripple USD (RLUSD), and USDD (USDD). Six coins were deleted, including Ethena (ENA), Aptos (APT), Worldcoin (WLD), Polygon (POL), Story (IP), and Arbitrum (ARB).

The DAICS review also identified 7 Green Coins, which are classified based on their energy-per-unit-transaction. The coins selected rank in the top 15 percentile of the least energy-consuming cryptocurrencies out of the 50 DAICS constituents.
