Irish Authorities Seize €30 Million in Cryptocurrency Backed by Europol

The Criminal Assets Bureau (CAB) has carried out a major operation in collaboration with Europol's European Cybercrime Centre, resulting in the seizure of €30 million in cryptocurrency.

The operation involved gaining access to and seizing a cryptocurrency wallet containing 500 bitcoins, which are considered the proceeds of crime. This significant development underscores the growing trend of criminals using cryptocurrency as a means to conceal their wealth.

CAB has previously warned about the increasing use of cryptocurrency by criminal organizations in Ireland, citing its anonymous nature as an attractive option for those seeking to hide illicit assets.
