Ethereum's latest development aims to redefine how blockchain networks are designed and evaluated. Vitalik Buterin, co-founder of Ethereum, has introduced the concept of Lean Ethereum, which focuses on combining speed and security in a single system.
Traditional blockchains often prioritize either speed or security, sacrificing one aspect for the other. However, Lean Ethereum seeks to challenge this paradigm by using a dual-system approach that balances both aspects. The first part of the system focuses on security, ensuring the network's integrity through the participation of at least 51% of honest and online validators.
The second component prioritizes maintaining the chain's functionality even in adverse conditions. This ensures that Ethereum remains operational and continues producing blocks, regardless of external factors. By combining these two aspects, Lean Ethereum aims to redefine how blockchains are evaluated and utilized.
