Russia Blocks Telegram Amid Crypto Community Concerns
Russia has intensified its efforts to restrict access to Telegram, sparking concerns among the country's crypto enthusiasts. The move comes as the government continues to tighten its grip on online communication.
According to reports, the Russian telecom watchdog, Roskomnadzor (RKN), has begun actively blocking Telegram since mid-March. This followed a series of steps taken by the agency to slow down traffic to the messenger, citing non-compliance with local rules.
The RKN's actions have been met with resistance from Telegram users in Russia, who report issues with the service. However, instead of finding alternative messengers, many are employing tools to bypass restrictions, such as VPNs.
The crypto community is particularly affected by the developments, which may hinder communication among its members. Some experts believe that there's hardly a substitute for Telegram due to its convenience and functionality.
