Coinbase Canada Appoints New CEO Amid Industry Changes

Coinbase Canada has announced the appointment of Eric Richmond as its new country director and CEO. Richmond takes over the role left vacant by Lucas Matheson, who departed in December to join Opendoor.

Richmond brings a wealth of experience from the Canadian crypto industry, having previously served as general counsel and head of business development at Shakepay. He also co-founded Canada's first regulated digital asset custodian, Tetra Trust, and has held the position of president at Coinsquare.

Richmond's focus will be on building relationships with regulators and partners to enable growth and make crypto more accessible to everyday Canadians. He aims to update the financial system, which he believes is long overdue for change.
