Ripple Invests in Flutterwave for Africa Cross-Border Payments
Ripple has invested in Flutterwave, one of Africa's leading fintech companies, valuing it at $3.3 billion, according to Bloomberg.
This move positions Ripple as a shareholder and sets up closer integration between Flutterwave's payment rails and Ripple's stablecoin and blockchain infrastructure.
Flutterwave CEO Olugbenga Agboola said the investment will embed Ripple's RLUSD stablecoin, Ripple Payments, and the XRP Ledger to support faster and more cost-effective international transfers.
This is part of a broader growth in Africa's remittance market, where stablecoins are gaining traction driven by demand for lower-cost international transfers.
