South Korean Investor Donates Large Sum in XRP to University Hospital

A South Korean investor has made a significant donation to a major university hospital in the country. According to reports, Kim Geo-seok donated 100,000 XRP, worth approximately $145,000, to Seoul National University Hospital.

This is not the first time Kim has donated to the hospital, as he also made a one-Bitcoin contribution last November. The investor has been a pioneer in crypto philanthropy since South Korea legalized cryptocurrency donations to nonprofits in 2025.

The donation reflects a growing trend of using cryptocurrencies for social good. Other notable examples include CZ-backed Giggle Academy raising $1.3 million in crypto to fund free worldwide education and supporters contributing over $270,000 in crypto to support the reintegration of Silk Road founder Ross Ulbricht.
