White House Imminent Bitcoin Reserve Announcement Fuels Congressional Efforts
The White House's cryptocurrency advisor, Patrick Witt, indicated that a significant announcement regarding the Strategic Bitcoin Reserve is expected in the coming weeks.
Witt emphasized that the executive branch aims to make substantial progress beyond congressional action and is working to determine the legal framework required to safeguard Bitcoins currently under government control.
The announcement comes as Congressman Nick Begich reintroduces his legislation, the American Reserves Modernization Act (ARMA), which directs the U.S. Treasury to acquire up to 1 million Bitcoins over five years using budget-neutral methodologies.
The ARMA bill has undergone revisions following input from House Financial Services Committee and other congressional panels.
