Pi Network is undergoing significant technical upgrades with the introduction of Protocol 23, which marks a major milestone in the blockchain's development. The upgrade, set to take place on May 15, will bring full smart contract support to the Stellar-based blockchain for the first time.
The release, built on Stellar Core 23, lays the groundwork for native smart contracts and decentralized applications on the chain. Node operators that fail to update by the deadline will be removed from the mainnet, losing their ability to validate transactions or earn participation rewards.
