Anonymous whale dumps $20.3m in wrapped Bitcoin amid market pressure
An anonymous wallet has offloaded 250 wrapped Bitcoin worth approximately $20.3 million in a single on-chain transaction on May 15.
The sale adds to the pressure on the market as Bitcoin trades near $80,400 amidst rising Treasury yields and inflation fears. The price of Bitcoin was down roughly 2% on the day due to these macroeconomic factors.
The wrapped Bitcoin sale bypasses traditional order books, making it harder to anticipate from exchange flow data alone. WBTC operates as a 1:1 Bitcoin-backed ERC-20 token used across Ethereum DeFi protocols.
This move is part of a wider pattern of large-holder activity flagged in 2026. In recent times, CryptoQuant analysts have tracked movements of dormant whales, noting no confirmed exchange inflows from these wallets.
