Fighters competing in the event were reportedly paid a $250,000 performance fee in the Trump-backed currency, sparking accusations of self-promotion and potential conflicts of interest.

California Governor Gavin Newsom was among those who spoke out against Trump's actions, tweeting that 'The White House was built to serve the American people. Tonight it was used to promote a company the President owns stock in... push Trump crypto... and enrich the President and his family.'
