$12 Million Frozen in Cryptocurrency Crackdown Operation
The U.S. Secret Service has taken a significant step in its fight against approval-phishing crime rings by freezing $12 million in cryptocurrency. As part of this effort, the service has launched Operation Atlantic, a collaborative initiative with agencies from the UK and Canada to identify individuals who have already lost assets or remain at risk due to these scams.
Approval-phishing scams involve tricking victims into approving unauthorized transactions, often through fake websites or emails that mimic legitimate ones. These crimes can result in significant financial losses for unsuspecting individuals.
