U.S. President Donald Trump revealed that his shift from being a crypto skeptic to a proponent was influenced by politics, voter demand, and competition with China's digital assets.

During an Oval Office event for Trump Accounts on July 6, the president stated that he had become a 'big crypto guy' due to concerns about China moving into the sector if the U.S. didn't stay ahead.

Trump acknowledged that his initial stance on crypto was not supportive, but as it grew into a large market, he saw the need for the U.S. to be competitive in this space.

The president also hinted at the role of politics in his change of heart, stating that 'this thing's got a lot of life' and that strong support from crypto users factored into his decision.
