Oil Surge, AI Woes Weigh on Bitcoin Price Near $64,000
Bitcoin's price remains steady near $64,000 on Monday, weighed down by conflicting market forces. Oil prices have surged to a one-month high due to ongoing war and inflation concerns, while the AI industry continues to reel from Moonshot AI's release of Kimi K3, a Chinese open-weight model that topped a coding benchmark.
The largest cryptocurrency has traded at approximately $64,200, roughly flat on the day but up 3% for the week. About $18 billion in Bitcoin transactions have taken place, with Ether leading the major cryptocurrencies by rising 5% over seven sessions to $1,860.
Oil prices have climbed as much as 4% to $91.42 a barrel, its highest since June, due to escalating military strikes between the US and Iran. This inflation concern has reignited worries that the Federal Reserve may not hold interest rates steady.
Equities and tech stocks are still recovering from Friday's selloff, with Alphabet, Tesla, and Intel set to report earnings this week. The semiconductor industry, closely tied to Bitcoin, will face scrutiny as these companies release their quarterly results.
