Bitget has announced the planned sunset of its Swellchain, a second-layer scaling solution built on Optimism Superchain.
The decision to sunset Swellchain is due to the evolving blockchain landscape and the maturation of the restaking ecosystem. As major projects adjust their roadmaps and Ethereum's Layer 1 scalability improves, Bitget believes that maintaining Swellchain would divert resources away from its priority project, Faro.
Users with funds on Swellchain must withdraw them before June 15, 2026, as the network will be permanently shut down after that date. Those who fail to do so may not be able to recover their funds.
