Trump Family's Crypto Deal with UAE Under Senate Scrutiny
Senate Democrats are pushing for hearings on a reported $500 million crypto deal involving the Trump family and Abu Dhabi royalty.
The investment, made by Aryam Investment 1, acquired a 49% stake in World Liberty Financial, the Trump family's decentralized finance project. The agreement was signed on January 16th, 2025, just four days before Donald Trump's second term began.
The upfront payment of approximately $187 million went to Trump-linked entities before he took office. This has raised concerns about potential conflicts of interest and national security questions for lawmakers.
Senators Elizabeth Warren, Andy Kim, Chris Murphy, and Jeff Merkley sent a letter to Senate Republicans urging them to make Trump officials testify under oath.
