Bitcoin Prices Surge as Ceasefire Talks Surface
The cryptocurrency market experienced a sudden surge on Monday as traders returned from the Easter weekend to find news of potential ceasefire talks between the US, Iran, and regional mediators. This development sent shockwaves through the market, causing Bitcoin prices to jump by 3% to $69,120.
The rally also saw significant gains in other major cryptocurrencies, including Ether, SOL, XRP, and dogecoin. The total crypto market cap has also bounced back above $2.5 trillion, with the broad rally pushing it higher.
According to data from liquidation platforms, short positions were heavily squeezed over the past 24 hours, with $196 million in liquidations compared to just $77.1 million in longs. This indicates that traders had been positioning for further downside after last week's sentiment collapse.
