US Senate Banking Committee Prepares to Vote on CLARITY Act
The Digital Asset Market Clarity Act (CLARITY Act) is a proposed legislation that seeks to bring regulatory clarity to the cryptocurrency industry. The bill aims to establish clear boundaries between the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC), which could potentially unlock institutional capital flows and make the US a global leader in digital asset innovation.
The CLARITY Act would provide much-needed clarity on when digital assets are classified as securities versus commodities, addressing one of the most contentious issues in crypto regulation. The bill's framework would allow for the SEC to retain authority over initial token sales and digital assets that function as securities, while the CFTC would oversee commodities and decentralized digital assets like Bitcoin.
