US Government Formalizes Strategic Bitcoin Reserve with $25 Billion in Seized Coins
The US government has made a significant move in its cryptocurrency holdings by formalizing the structuring of its Strategic Bitcoin Reserve. White House officials confirmed that the reserve now holds 328,372 seized BTC valued at $25 billion.
This represents 1.56% of the circulating supply, with all coins originating from criminal forfeitures rather than open-market buys. The Treasury is committed to permanent holding and has no plans for sales.
A parallel Digital Asset Stockpile will isolate Ethereum (not specified), XRP, and remaining altcoins while Congress advances the American Reserves Modernization Act, which aims to purchase one million additional BTC over five years with a minimum hold period of 20 years.
