Tabriz Blasts Fail to Faze Crypto Markets as Iran Boosts Digital Trade
Iran's northwestern industrial city of Tabriz was hit by multiple explosions in mid-July 2026, part of a broader wave of blasts reported across the country. Witnesses described the explosions, which occurred between July 15 and 19, with Iranian state media acknowledging the incidents but stopping short of attributing them to any specific cause or confirming targeted sites.
The city of Tabriz is home to heavy manufacturing and refining infrastructure, as well as a significant share of Iran's mining activity. While no confirmed losses to mining facilities in the region have been documented, a disruption to Iranian mining capacity could impact global Bitcoin hashrate.
Rather than causing significant market fluctuations, the explosions barely registered on crypto markets. Bitcoin traded near $63,800 during the period, with intraday volatility of approximately 0.3%, while Ether held steady around $1,800.
