Ukraine Takes Control of Hacker Group's $8.3M in Crypto Assets

The Ukrainian Prosecutor General's office has made a significant breakthrough in the fight against cybercrime. For the first time, seized virtual assets have been transferred to the management of ARMA. The agency has taken control of over $8.3 million worth of USDT (Tether) cryptocurrency, which was previously held on wallets controlled by an international hacker group.

The group, which carried out cyberattacks in European countries and the USA, stole confidential information, demanded ransoms, and laundered their proceeds in Ukraine through real estate purchases and other assets. The estimated damages from their activities exceed $100 million.

As part of the investigation, four participants were detained, including the organizer, who are currently in custody. In addition to the virtual assets, authorities have seized over $11.1 million worth of physical assets, including residential houses, apartments, cars, and cash.
