Todd Blanche Appointed Interim AG Amid Crypto Enforcement Controversy
Todd Blanche has been appointed as the interim Attorney General, taking over from Pam Bondi after she was removed from the position by President Donald Trump.
Blanche had previously served as deputy attorney general under Trump's administration and played a key role in shaping the DOJ's crypto enforcement policies. In 2022, he ordered the disbanding of the National Cryptocurrency Enforcement Team, which was established under former President Joe Biden's administration.
Blanche also signed a memo that prohibited prosecutors from pursuing regulatory violation cases in the crypto industry, leading to the dismissal of charges against Tornado Cash developer Roman Storm. However, it was later revealed that Blanche still held significant crypto assets at the time of signing the memo, which raised ethics concerns.
