Republican Candidate Leverages Tech Expertise to Advocate for Campaign Finance Transparency
Michael Carbonara, a Republican candidate running for Florida's 22nd Congressional District, has used his technical expertise to emphasize the importance of transparency in campaign finance. He recently liquidated $800,000 worth of Bitcoin, which he exchanged for Circle's USDC stablecoin, to fund his campaign.
Carbonara's background in digital banking and payments comes from his company, Ibanera, which he founded in 2017. His experience has led him to advocate for using blockchain technology to increase transparency in government spending. He believes that this technology can expose inefficiencies and fraud, rather than hiding them.
