Ansgar Dietrichs, executive director of Ethlabs, clarified the group's role in relation to the Ethereum Foundation. He stated that Ethlabs will complement the foundation rather than competing with it.
Ethlabs was founded last month by former Ethereum Foundation researchers and aims to fill gaps left intentionally by the foundation, according to Dietrichs.
The organization plans to continue existing research on Layer 1 scalability, as well as expand into new areas such as interoperability and collaboration with financial institutions exploring blockchain infrastructure.
