Cybercriminals Exploit Oscar Fever with Malicious Movie Download Sites

Cybersecurity experts have identified a malicious campaign targeting online movie enthusiasts ahead of the Academy Awards ceremony.

The malware, known as Efimer, has been found to infect computers through websites that offer free movies, including those with legitimate content hijacked by cybercriminals.

Once installed, the malware can monitor clipboard activity and intercept cryptocurrency payments, allowing attackers to steal funds without users' knowledge.

To protect against this type of attack, experts recommend avoiding illegal or unknown sources for downloading movies and being cautious when installing software from unfamiliar websites.
