HK Clearing Exposes Fake Crypto Wallet Scam Using Cash Rewards

Hong Kong Clearing Limited has uncovered multiple counterfeit websites that use cash rewards and virtual wallet transactions to steal personal and banking information from users.

The clearing company warned of fake websites using cash rewards and virtual wallets to steal personal and banking information, falsely posing as official Faster Payment System (FPS) service providers with no connection to HKICL.

The scam sites claim to offer 'Buyer Online Security Protection' services to convince users to complete real-name verification in exchange for promised cash rewards before directing them to deposit or withdraw funds through virtual wallets using the FPS.

HKICL stated that the operators encourage victims to communicate with fake customer service representatives as part of the scheme, and the clearing company reminded the public that it does not provide FPS services directly to individual members of the public and does not proactively contact users regarding such services.
