The parents of Sam Bankman-Fried, the former CEO of FTX, made a plea for their son's release from prison during a recent interview on CNN.
Barbara Fried and Joseph Bankman, both Stanford professors, joined CNN's Michael Smerconish to discuss their son's case. They maintained that Sam was innocent and that his prosecution was 'political' in nature.
The parents also drew parallels between their son's trial and President Donald Trump's civil case under Judge Lewis Kaplan. Fried claimed that her son was a victim of an 'out of control prosecution,' echoing Trump's own sentiments about the judge.
