US Housing Bill Becomes Law Without CBDC Ban, Raising Questions About Crypto Regulation
A bipartisan housing bill in the United States is set to become law without President Donald Trump's signature, due to the deadline for him to sign or veto it having expired.
The 21st Century ROAD to Housing Act will automatically become law on Friday after being in Trump's hands for 10 days, excluding Sundays, as per the US Constitution.
In a social media post on Friday, Trump confirmed he would not sign the bill, calling Republicans who voted for it 'dumb' and urging the Senate to prioritize the SAVE America Act instead.
The housing bill included a provision banning the Federal Reserve from issuing or creating a central bank digital currency (CBDC) until December 31, 2030. Many analysts saw this as a political move to gain Republican support.
