Bitcoin Crash: Ex-U.S. Treasury Economist Weighs In on Latest Volatility
Mark Dow, a former U.S. Treasury economist and hedge fund trader, is known for opening a Bitcoin short position in December 2017 when the cryptocurrency was trading near $20,000.
Dow's skepticism of Bitcoin's surge led him to make this bold move, which ultimately resulted in a significant profit as Bitcoin crashed to $3,500 just over a year later.
When asked about his decision to close his short position in December 2018, Dow stated, 'I'm done. I don't want to try to ride this thing to zero.'
Fast forward to the latest Bitcoin crash, which saw the cryptocurrency plummet below $60,000 on June 25, Dow reacted with a dig at maximalists like real estate mogul Grant Cardone.
