OpenClaw AI Framework Banned Crypto Mentions on Discord Server
OpenClaw is an open-source AI framework that enables the development of autonomous agents capable of complex digital tasks. The project emphasizes transparency and community-driven development, allowing developers to inspect and modify the underlying framework freely.
However, OpenClaw's rise to popularity has been marred by controversy. Initially launched as 'Clawdbot,' the project was forced to rebrand after receiving a trademark warning from AI giant Anthropic. The new name, 'OpenClaw,' was adopted, but not before scammers hijacked the project's social media accounts and launched a fake Solana token called CLAWD.
The token frenzy that ensued saw the token surge to a $16 million market cap within hours. However, when Steinberger publicly denied any association with the token, it collapsed by over 90%, leaving late buyers with significant losses.
