American Skepticism of AI and Crypto Industries on the Rise
A growing number of Americans are expressing unease about the rapidly expanding AI and crypto industries, with a recent poll revealing widespread skepticism towards their significant spending on politics.
According to the poll, 41% of respondents believe that special interest groups have too much influence over U.S. politics, while only 12% think they have too little influence. The remaining 23% say these groups have the right amount of sway.
The AI and crypto industries are leading the charge in terms of super PAC spending, with some groups having already raised tens of millions of dollars to fund their efforts. For example, Leading the Future, a pro-AI super PAC founded in August, has raised over $75 million since its launch. This influx of money has allowed these groups to wield significant influence over elections and policy decisions.
As concerns about AI's cultural and economic impact grow, lawmakers like Senator Chris Murphy (D-Conn.) are urging their colleagues to address the issue by making special interest spending a campaign priority. If not addressed, the rising distrust among voters could lead to a backlash against these industries in future elections.
