Riot Platforms Liquidates Large Portion of Bitcoin Holdings Amid Industry Challenges
Riot Platforms has been actively liquidating its Bitcoin holdings in response to the current challenges facing the crypto mining industry.
The company's operational update revealed that it sold 3,778 BTC in Q1, resulting in $289.5 million at an average price of $76,626 per coin.
As a result, Riot's Bitcoin reserves have declined significantly, dropping by 18% year-over-year to 15,680 BTC as of March 31. The sell-off has continued beyond the quarter's end, with an additional 500 BTC sold in early April.
