Ethereum Dormant Wallets Suddenly Emptied by Unknown Entity
A significant number of dormant Ethereum addresses on the mainnet have been compromised, with funds being transferred out without apparent reason.
The incident was first reported by BlockBeats, which cited crypto analyst Wazz as stating that hundreds of wallets had been emptied since yesterday. Aragon team member @TheTakenUser also confirmed that their own wallet's funds were transferred, although the cause remains unclear.
Experts have proposed several possible explanations for the transfers, including old mnemonic phrases or private key leaks. However, a new smart contract vulnerability is not considered a likely culprit at this time.
