Shipping companies operating in the Strait of Hormuz have fallen victim to a sophisticated cryptocurrency-based scam, which threatens their safe passage through the strategic waterway. According to reports, scammers are sending fake messages from Iranian security officials, demanding payment in Bitcoin or USDT (Tether) for transit fees.

The company Marisks, which provides shipping services, has warned its clients about the scam, stating that the communications are not associated with any official Iranian entity. The firm emphasizes that there is no verified payment system in place and advises against contacting the senders of these messages.
