Sacks Steps Down as White House's First AI and Crypto Czar
David Sacks, the White House's first AI and Crypto Czar, has stepped down from his role. He was appointed by Trump in December 2024 to shape federal policy on AI and digital assets.
Sacks' tenure saw the introduction of the GENIUS Act, a legislative framework aimed at bringing regulatory clarity to stablecoins and other digital assets. However, a dedicated AI Security Agency was not formally established during his time in office.
The timing of Sacks' departure is significant as it comes several months into Trump's second term. The GENIUS Act, if passed, would establish the first comprehensive federal framework for stablecoin issuers.
Sacks has moved to co-chair the President's Council of Advisors on Science and Technology (PCAST), a role that may give him continued influence over AI and crypto policy.
