CLARITY Act Delay Sparks Frustration Among Crypto Industry Leaders
The debate over crypto regulation in the US has escalated as industry proponents and lawmakers slam the repeated delays in the proposed CLARITY Act.
According to several industry players, any initiative to change the legislation may undermine its original pro-innovation intent. The bill aims to establish clearer rules for digital asset markets, but banking groups have raised concerns over deposit flight from traditional banks.
Criticism comes from various crypto executives, including Paul Grewal of Coinbase, who alleges that certain banking groups are trying to rewrite the bill to benefit themselves at the expense of average crypto users. Mike Belshe, CEO of BitGo, stated that crypto-native firms will continue expanding services regardless of legislative delays.
