UK Introduces Blockchain Water Credits on Algorand Network

The UK's first Blockchain Water Credits system has been launched by Hypercube and YTL Corporation, utilizing the Algorand blockchain. This innovative project converts treated wastewater into tokenized digital credits, which can be used by businesses to offset their water usage and support sustainable water management strategies worldwide.

The system uses the WTR standard developed by Hypercube to generate verified digital water credits for every 1m³ of recycled water. These credits are tracked through blockchain verification technology, providing a transparent and immutable record of each credit's lifecycle.
