Asian Digital Finance Ecosystem Faces Regulatory Balancing Act
Regulatory experts and industry leaders from Hong Kong and Japan recently met at the HK Web3 Feastival to explore ways to balance regulation and innovation in the development of a sustainable Asian digital financial ecosystem.
The event brought together key stakeholders, including Hong Kong Legislative Council member Qiu Dagen, Cyberport Management Company Limited's Chief Public Mission Officer Chen Siyuan, and Japan Virtual Currency Exchange Association (JVCEA) Executive Director Yukimasa Tsukasa. They emphasized the need for a harmonious relationship between regulatory frameworks and innovation to drive growth in the sector.
Qiu Dagen highlighted the importance of creating an environment that encourages innovation while improving regulatory frameworks. He pointed out that Hong Kong's current legislative process has made significant progress, but more needs to be done to address issues such as market maker systems and liquidity provision for virtual assets.
