Bank of America Eyes XRP Integration Amid Hybrid Payment Model Shift
The integration of XRP into Bank of America's payment systems has been discussed as a potential solution for cross-border transactions. This comes at a time when the banking ecosystem is shifting towards hybrid models, where traditional financial infrastructure and blockchain-based solutions operate side by side.
The On Demand Liquidity (ODL) solution, which enables banks to minimize pre-funded accounts in foreign currencies, has been highlighted as a key aspect of this integration. However, its adoption remains limited due to regulatory and institutional factors.
SWIFT, the interbank messaging network, continues to modernize its infrastructure through upgrades such as the ISO 20022 messaging standard and efforts to achieve interoperability with new financial technologies. This supports the view that payments ecosystems are evolving through gradual transition and coexistence rather than wholesale replacement.
